The 2019 new chicken additions

We added a small group of birds, 4 Araucana (Easter Egger) chicks the end of February. They have started laying pretty little blue-green eggs in the last couple weeks. One of these "girls" turned out to be a boy. I should have known when choosing that colorful chick that he was just too pretty to be a pullet! So far it's working out alright, we do have two other large fowl roosters and 2 silkies roosters but all are keeping the peace at the moment. We tend to name chickens in some sort of theme for each group, the originals were more random or a name that went along with their breed, then we did fairytale type names for the following year group. This year's small group is cheerful/hopeful names, Grace, Hope, Joy and Faith. Joy was thus names for "her" joyful coloring. Now "she" is Joy-Boy, or Boy-Joy.

The chick at the back turned out to be a boy.

The 4 smaller eggs are pullet sized from the new layers, two average eggs next to them for comparison.

Joy-Boy is certainly pretty.
