The big chicks are enjoying flock life.
The little chicks are growing fast, here are the three frizzles from our recent hatch. Not the best pictures but they don't hold still!

With the temperatures in the high 80s the dogs were lad to cool off on their walk.
Comet loves a good dig. |
Willow's in a tangle! |
Dartha loves getting wet. |
Comet is going for it, swimming as far as he can on his long leash. |
This is not where we go to bed young bantams! They are still learning, the roosted in the run instead of the coop, I had to move them in.
To the lake and beyond for Willow and Comet, we did quite a long walk with them. As for Dartha her leg is bothering her more lately but she loves to get wet so a quick wander to the brook for Dartha. Dartha, as usual, wants to carry her own leash!
More planting done today and getting the little chicks outdoors and general farm busyness. It looks like the Arctic Kiwi plants are trying again to bud and leaf out after being killed off by the late, hard freeze. Very interesting.
Arctic Kiwi plants tying again? I've not seen other plants do this after a hard freeze.
A large, overwintered parsnip and an Emily cat seem to be growing in this fabric pot!
Farm chores got done early since we were heading a couple hours away to do cemetery clean up and plant some new flowers for Grandparents, Mom and Brother. The guys did such a good job cleaning the various headstones and ground markers, they needed it and it was a painstaking chore that took awhile. The ground was so very dry I don't hold out hope for the flowers we planted but I watered them in many times over and over in hopes they could last until it rains. There are many watering areas to fill containers at the cemetery and some of them have short hoses and are high powered. I got a good soaking when I turned a knob too far the wrong way! It was pretty funny but as I didn't want to drive the 2 hours home, plus make any stops all wet I got a new outfit in a nearby store. We brought home one of the cement decorations that had become broken and will repair or replace and then bring it back next time.
On the way home we stopped at a very large vintage and not so vintage shop since Bobby likes antiques and the boys were happy to look for a unique bargain (Star Wars items were found and bought). I got a couple kitchen things too and then we headed the rest of the way home.
Once home I got the little chicks out of the coop and into a shady area for some fresh air and dust bathing. There is a fan in the coop for these warmer days but they still enjoy getting out. I let the bearded dragons go outside for an hour or so too before it started to get dark.
There is much more planting to do tomorrow, lad for the long weekend.
Finally the more cold sensitive plants can go in the garden, so much to do! Many tomatoes, which I started from seed, were planted as well as peppers and a few other things. Still more to do,
Upgraded the little chicks to a bigger brooder cage and brooder heat plate in the coop and got them outside on this warm day.
One of our turkey friends was hanging around, the ducks enjoyed some spray from the hose and everyone enjoyed the warm day.
A walk in the woods. The seasonal "pond" at the back of one side of the land is dried up since we've had dry weather and very little rain ut the brook never let's us down. Dartha had a nice cool off in the brook.
