Snow + Rain = Mess

Yesterday we had snow, and rain. In the night we had rain and snow. This morning things are pretty slushy and messy outdoors. It was one degree ABOVE freezing at 7:00 AM for farm chores and above freezing is fine with me. KitKat helped me get the chickens, ducks and rabbits started for the day. The ducks seemed happy with the areas of slush and even a little melted snow. The chickens didn't seem bothered about it. One chicken didn't want to go out even on this milder day. Silly Silkie is still brooding. No nest boxes were open for her, I found her setting on the floor in front of them, as soon as they opened up in she went. With these three black silkies I have found that their broody can't be broken. We just live with it and sometimes let them have eggs to hatch. It's a bit early for hatching though so I'll hold her off if I can. Still plenty more winter to come, unfortunately.

Kitkat the farm cat isn't impressed with the wet snow. The road looks a bit treacherous this morning.

KitKat's tail is still wonky from his injury awhile back but it's all healed up and doesn't hurt him.

This morning's feed for the gang.

Oh Miss Silkie why must you brood so often? She wants eggs and wants them now!

The ducks are happy with the slushy, wet snow and little puddles.
